Sun Microsystems Campus Ambassadors shine

BY STEPHANIE BOLTJE

BIS student Sarah Grevins (pictured top) and CIS Masters student Tapan Dave (pictured below) have secured prestigious ambassador roles with leading IT technology company Sun Microsystems.

Sarah is the new Australian & New Zealand Sun Microsystems Campus Ambassador Coordinator and Tapan has taken over Sarah's previous role as Sun Microsystems Campus Ambassador for UniSA.

For the past six months, Sarah promoted Java and Solaris technologies to academia through campus demonstrations and the online environment in her role.

She will now recruit Australian Campus Ambassadors, including setting up online access for Sun Microsystems resources.

“Having previously had experience as a Campus Ambassador, I am able to pass on the knowledge I gained and understand the support needed by Australian Ambassadors,” said Sarah.

She is also now assisting Tapan to settle in his role as the Sun Microsystems Campus Ambassador for 2008/09.

Tapan said working for Sun Microsystems “is like working with my dream company”.

“I feel that I have a big role and responsibility to fill, but at the same time I am very confident about it. It is similar to what I have done in the past and I think I would be able to deliver successfully all the help and support from Sun in this role,” Tapan said.

His excitement towards his recent acceptance is also evident through his Blog Posting by clicking on the link to access.

Tapan developed an interest in computer programming in 1990 and is now in his final year of the Bachelor of Information & Communications Technology (Networking) program.

He is currently Chair of the SA Young IT Committee and a member of the Branch Executive Committee of Australian Computer Society (ACS).
