About the School

The School of Computer and Information Science (CIS) is part of the Division of Information Technology, Engineering and the Environment.

Located at the Mawson Lakes (top image) and City West (bottom image) campuses, CIS is the State's principal centre for teaching and research in computer science, information systems and software engineering. Currently, CIS has about 60 academic staff and 2,500 students.

A range of awards from Associate Degree to Doctorate are offered, with students choosing from
programs based at Mawson Lakes, City West and Magill campuses, as well as offshore programs in Malaysia, Hong Kong and Singapore.

Students are nurtured through the Student Advisory Centre at Mawson Lakes. Our friendly and knowledgeable staff can advise on such matters as enrolment procedure, course choice, assignment lodgement and retrieval.

We offer a number of Scholarships for commencing and continuing students. Additionally, high achieving students vie for about 30 industry sponsored Awards and Prizes presented at the School's Awards Ceremony in March/April annually.

Research in the School is focused within the Advanced Computing Research Centre (ACRC). The ACRC participates in two Collaborative Research Centres and conducts research in such areas as Wearable Computing, Health Informatics and Information Systems.

Our School has established an Industry Alliance Program (IAP) focussed on developing long-term relationships with industry and providing students with 'real-world' experience during their studies through industry placements and project work.
